A number of ladies raised strenuous objections to the opening of the gallery.: This is a, great pity, as it excludes a.number of people who would not care to pay the half-guinea necessary to admit them to the ball. The exclusion of the public means a serious loss to the league, and it is possible that this pnaso of the question did not strike the objectors. Special cars are advertised. The introduction committee is a very strong one, and no one should be wanting a partner with such energetic committeemen as the following at the head of affairs:—Mr J. H. B. • Coates, Colonel Chaytor, Colonel Campbell. Dr. Napier McLean, Dr. Izard, Mr J. B. Harcourt, Mr B. J. Le Grove, Mr C. H. F. S. Pollock, Major Courtenay, j and Mr C. W. Palmer. The decoration committee will be hard at work to-day putting all in readiness for the ball, and the number of tickets sold augurs well for the ultimate success of the entertainment.
