WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION'S MEETING. .Tks Wellington Dnstriot Cricket Assoocamioix met last night and mode tie tan I arrangements for the visit of the Australian team, as reported under another heading. Mr Martin Luckie presided over a good attendance. The receipt of a cheque for .£l9 2s 6d from the Auckland Association was acknowledged. This constituted 30 per cent, of the proceeds from the AuoklandWelKngfcon match at Auckland, when the gross proceeds were 140. Tho Hawke's Bay Association intimated that the failure to send a team to Napier at Easter would cause great disappointment and financial loss, as all arrangements had- been made.
It was decided that steps be taken to send tho best team possible to Napier. A challenge was received from the Marlborough Association to play the Wellington senior eleven at Wellington ■ during Easter. Owing to the test match coming at that time it was considered impossible to meet the invitation, which tho secretary had accordingly handed over to the Wairarapa Association. This action was approved, and it was mentioned that the Wairarapa Association would be glad of the match. The meeting considered in camera the allegations regarding the conduct of members of a Wellington cricket team which visited Auckland at Christmas. , QUALIFYING BEATERS. paras association. CHRISTCHURCH, February 7. At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council to-night it was resolved to telegraph to the Auckland Association that in view of the report that Relf was leaving the Dominion on February 24th. it must have a. definite assurance that Relf will qualify for the Blanket Shield match, otherwise he must not piny against' Otago. It was also resolved that the council permit Macartney to play in the
shield match for Otago against Auckland, relying on the Otago captain’s assurance that he will qualify in accordance with rule 9.
