Meetings of tho Near Zealand Flour Millers' Association were held yesterday and to-day, to consider the proposal to go into voluntary; liquidation. No official information, is available, but it is generally understood that during tho earlier pUrt of the proceedings there was a feeling that it might be desirable and advisable for the association temporarily to suspend its operations' as an association. but that later, after matters had been discussed at some length, this
feeling underwent a change, and that now the opinion of most of the members is in favour of continuance of the association. A return to the state oi affairs existing prior to the formation of the association does not, it is reported, commend itself to those who appreciate the benefits that huve accrued to the millers since the association has' been in existence.
There are eight large millers at present outside the association, and fear of unrestricted competition from these has caused members of the association to hesitate as to renewing their agreement. Nothing definite has been done yet, but the probabilities are that the agreement, which falls in at the end or February, will be renewed for a period of seven
