NEWCASTLE STRIKE
ALLEGED INCITEMENT SUMMONS AGAINST SEAMEN’S UNION AGENT. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyriglu. SYDNEY, January 12. Mr Walsh, the Newcastle agent of the Seamen's Union, has been summoned to answer a charge of using inciting language in connection with Saturday’s meeting of Newcastle miners. BOUND OYER. (Received January 12, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 12. Walsh was bound over to keep tho peace for twelve months and te find sureties of £3OO, with an alternative of three months’ imprisonment. His counsel explained that Walsh had merely desired to protest against Mr Wade’s Bill, and when ho found he had gone too far ho had expressed contrition. TRIMMERS STOP WORK. SYDNEY, January 12. The Newcastle coal-trimmers liavo resolved not to trim any more vessels while tlio strike lasts. Up to tho present the trimmers have worked tho few steamers which have managed te secure hunker coal.
