THE CHRISTMAS STORM. The liutl County Council met yesterday. Present: Councillors J. \\ a;-.cmau (in inc- chair), J. Wakeham, W. Galloway, F. Edwards, JI. W. Welch, and JI. J. Lynch. Jlr J. W. Cudby, tho council’s inspector, reported that the roads throughout the county wero all in very good 0,..er. The timber for redeekmg the Silverrtreum bridge had been carted to tho site and would be used shortly. In connection with the damming of the Waiwetu stream at Nai Nai, by tho owner of a flockmill, if was reported that the flooding of the dam had caused the water to flow over about six acres of land where oniy one and a half acres should be inundated.—Tho council decided to take steps to have the obstruction removed. It -was decided to construct a small traffic bridge across the railway lino at PJimmcrton to give nee css to residents living on both sides of tho line.
