D BATTERY IN CAMP

The D Battery’s annual now in progress at Hutt Park under* charge of Major Petherick, is tho best) attended, and promises to bo tbo most successful, over held by the corps. There are a hundred and ten men in camp. Tho first few days are being devoted to individual training and the annual examinations. Next week will lie devoted to company work pro* paratory to proceeding to Feathcrston for shooting practice. A special train will take the company over the Pimutakas on the night of the 21st. Shooting will Tie earned out on the 22nd and 23rd, tho men returning to town that evening. During the seventeen days the men will have boon in camp they will have put' in seventy hours’ work—equal to eleven contin nous days’ training. This is Jin addition to the time to and from comp,,, and'when it is considered that the men follow their ordinary avocations'as well the remark guide by.a prominent staff officer that “Thorn is no morn efficient corps than the D Battery” becomes comphehengible.
