Fho markets aro now being kept well supplied with all classes of fruit from day to day, with tho result that values ruling arc now much lower than formerly. Tho moat marked increase in tho supply is iu peaches, heavy consignments of which aro arriving from tho Hawke's Bay ns well as tho Nelson districts. Somo of tho favourite varieties of dessert plums, including Burbanks, are now arriving, principally from Auckland, and a heavy, decline took i place in values. Black currants continue i to receive keen attention at tho sales, and \ raspberries are now in better demand. Tho . quality and condition of both cles&ort ami cooking apples is expected to show a mark- ■ cd improvement very shortly. So far no pcara worth speaking about have mado their appearance this season, and a strong market la expected for first supplies. For some few weeks past the Victorian market for onions has been steadily declining, until it is now practically at a nominal level. In the course of tho next week i.r a fortnight New Zealand onions, from 1 .dh tho Auckland and Canterbury districts should lie available. The low prices ruling for imported, however, will prevent the possibility of anything like extreme rates resulting for the first, of the new season’s locally-grown. In addition to this, for the first few weeks New Zealand onions will require to become seasoned before they can bo depended upon to keep any length of time. Doubtless, after tho laps© of another fortnight it will not be necessary to import Victorian onions. The crop in tho Dominion will probably bo suiliciciit to cover requirements for tho next in:: months. Potatoes, priiao £7 10s to X 3 ICs, good £5 to £6 ton; onions, prime £7 10a to £3. 0 THE 11 VEGETABLES. Tho monthly statement of the Commerce and Tourists Division of tho Department of Agriculture, giving the exports for December, aa well as those for the nine months ending December, provide a most satisfactory comparison with tho figures for the corresponding periods of tho previous year. Taking the month’s figures, there are increases under practically all headings except grain and timber. Tho figures for the past nine months exhibit a splendid advance. There was a fallingolf in mutton, but this was more than counterbalanced by the increase in lamb. THE DECEMBER FIGURES. 1903, 1905.

Totals ... £8,957,821 £11,589.042 Tins shows tho gratifying increase of £2,631,221 for the past nine months, the great bulk of which was contributed by agricultural products. Tho Customs revenue received at ‘Wellington yesterday totalled’ £4366.
