A GREAT RACE

(Received January 9, 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 8. • In the one hundred yards swimming championship of Now South Wales a great race was witnessed. Cecil Healy defeated Harold Hardwick, the present holder, by a bare touch in 58 l-sseo. Hardwick won the half-mile championship easily in 12min 12 2-ssec. Cecil Hca-ly holds the' 100 yards swimming oha-mpionship of Australasia, and the world's time record for that distance —sssec. He is also the fastest known swimmer' in the world over 100 metres (109.363 yards), having cut through that distance in a race with Hardwick ' last month in lmin 6seo. ■/
