IMPORTS AND EXPORTS
A YEAR OF REVIVING TEADE BRITISH BOARD OF TRADE RETURNS. INCREASES ALL ROUND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received January 9, 5 p.m.) LONDON, January 8. The Board of Trade returns for tlic past montli show a considerable improvement on those for the corresponding months of 1908. Thero is an increase . in the value of imports amounting to nearly four millions sterling, while .the exports show an added value of nearly six millions. Figures for the whole year also exhibit the pleasant feature of a large .increase, and Mr Lloyd George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, this week foretells a great boom iii British trade during the current year.
