A* feature of the figures is that tho increase for the December quarter alone is £55,685. The Primo Minister expressed his satisfaction with tho revenue returns for the past nine months. The fact that last quarter showed such a satisfactory increase was, in bis opinion, an indication that bettor times had followed the period of depression through which the Dominion bad passed; and strongly pointed to tho corner having been well turned. As Minister of Finance he was very gratified at the results, which should inspire tho people of the country with renewed confidence, and there was no reason wliy they should not continue tlio steady progress which had produced such excellent results for the December quarter. This—added to the fact that nine months of 1909, as compared with the samo period of 1908, showed the improvement lie had stated—clearly demonstrated that there had been improved conditions during the whole of that period.
