"ROUSE!” AT 2 A.M.
WITH LOED KITCHENEE NEW SOUTH WALES TROOPS KEPT BUSY. ONE CASUALTY REPORTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received January 8, 1.6 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 7. To-day’s operations at the Liverpool camp were a repetition of the methods adopted hy Lord 'Kitchener in Queensland. Elaborate preparations had been made by the authorities for manoeuvres, but these were upset by the Field-Marshal, who issued new orders at 2 o’clock this morning. The troops then turned out, and spent the day in tactical manoeuvring, 1 which was keenly watched by Lord 1 Kitchener. A sensational accident occurred at the close of yesterday’s operations. A shot was fired accidentally, and the bullet, passing through a tent, killed a horse, and then struck Mr Somerville, a “ Daily Telegraph ” reporter, who was standing a hundred yards away, on the leg, inflicting a bad flesh wound. Mr Somerville was removed to the hospital.
