On December 28th tho vessel envountered a severe gale. Huge seas :swopt the decks, and one carried Cap. I tain Perrott and the third officer ovorboard. The latter had taken the procaution to lnsli himself to a post and was hauled aboard again. The captain was not missed for a quarter of an hour, and was not again seen. He !was only married a month beforo leaving Now, York, A few days after starting on the voyage the barque, during a fog, collided at midnight with an unknown Vessel, rooeiving a slanting blow on the starboard sido above the waterdine, which did considerable damage. Tho other vossol continued her voyage and was not seen again. THE STRANDED AYRSHIRE. HEAVY LOSSES EXPECTED ON CARGO. (Received January 7, 1.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 6. The Underwriters' Association has l»oen advised that tho Ayrshire, wliich collided with tho steamer Arcadian on •Sunday and was towed to Holyhead and boachod, as badly damaged. The cargo is now being discharged. It is esbimaltod tliat the lossos on cargo will bo heavy.
