Miners are warned aigainst rushing the field pending further information. OBITUARY. TOKIO, January 5. The Bight Rev. William Awdry,' D.D., Bishop of South Tokio, is dead. [Born>in 1842, the deceased prelate was educated at Winchester and Balliol College, Oxford, where he took a prominent part in athletics as woll as study. He rowed in the Oxford Eight in 11863 and 1864. In 1865 he entered holy orders, and for several years was on the teaching staff at Winchester College, afterwards occupying the headmastership a/t St. John's College, Hurstpierpont (one of the church coUeg»es, in Sussex). Ho became Bishop of Southampton in 1895, and next year was translated to the see of Osaka, Japan. Two years later he became Bishop of South Tokio.]
