IN PRAISE OF ROTORUA

A VISITOR'S IMPRESSIONS. Mr Hugo Gorlitz, who is managing the New Zealand visit of Dr Harriss and th-o Sheffield Choir, Mias returned to Wellington from Auckland and Rotorua. Mr Gorlitz speaks in high terms of the new sanatorium and massage treatment at Rotorua, where he spent ten days. “It is better than iu the South of Prance, where 1 went ten years ago with Paderewski," he remarked. “Rotorua is much more up-to-date* and the baths are really mo ye effective than those at Aix-les-Hains, and altogether Ike entire arrangements are moat creditable at Rotorua, and tar in advance of what I expected to see. It was my first visit to Rotorua. There I met Dr Soli, the German Governor of Samoa, and he confirmed my opinions. He, too, prefers the baths of Rotorua to. those of Aixdcs-Hains." Speaking of Auckland, Mr Gorlitz said it was twenty-two years since he had visited the northern city, “it has made marvellous progress/' lie observed, “and appears to me like one of the large European seaport towns. lam hoping that the new Town Hall in Auckland, capable of seating SUOO people, will be finished in time for the visit of the Sheffield Choir in the winter of 1911. It will be a magnificent hall, larger than, tho Sydney Town Hall, and will be, it is believed, the fmast in the Ansrtralawian colonies." Mr Gorlitz leaves Wellington on Saturday for Christchurch, which he proposes to make his headquarters iu connection with the arrangements for the Sheffield Choir's visit.
