RAILWAY TIME-TABLES

FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS. MASTER TON, January 4. To-morrow an important conference of Chambers of Commerce will be held in Masterton to discuss again the railway time-table as far as it applies to Wairarapa and the Forty-mile Bush. All the chambers in the immediate districts will be represented, as it is expected that some important resolutions will be adopted. Tho time-table is considered so unsatisfactory to local business people, especially as regards correspondence by mail, that a large public meeting of protest is mooted, with the object of approaching the Minister and obtaining alterations—especially the reinstatement of the early mail train from Wellington. The time-table is also troubling Napier people, and Mr Granby, a wellknown resident of Napier, has written to the Mastorton Chamber of Commerce on the subject as follows:—“Having appointed by the Napier Chamber of Commerce to draft a time-table to suit the convenience of the Hawke's Bay public, with a view to submitting the same to the Minister for Railways, I am anxious to obtain the requirements of your district also, as I know a great deal of dissatisfaction exists with the present arrangements. If we could move together in the matter it would greatly strengthen both our hands when making our requests.” It appears that the president of the Na-pier Chamber of Commerce and Mr Oranby have already waited on the Hon. J. A. Millar with regard to the matter, and received a promise that: the whole question will receive his full consideration.
