HOKITTKA, December 8. , An inquesi was hold to-day touching ifche death of <a. man named Herbert Jolly, a Tasmanian, vfiio succumbed to injuries sustained by a. pipe stem which entered bis right eye to a depth of 2J inches and which was not extracted until twelve hours afterwards. The evidence went to show that tho accident happened during a scuffle, and jthe remarkable thing about the affair jwas that deceased was unaware, that Itira portion of the pipe had entered his reye until it was extracted' by <a doctor. The jury returned a verdict that 'death resulted from abscess on the brain caused hy a pipe stem, and that thero teas not sufficient evidence to prove Jvo-w it occurred.
