EXCELLENT ENTRIES. SPECIAL TO TUB " XTUXB." WANGANUI, December 8. Nominations for the Wanganui band contest, to bo held from March 14th to 18th, closed to-night. A record, entry of raneteen was received, while others hearing to-day's postmark niay yet ooine to .hand. With the exception of the Exhibition contest, this entry is a record one for the Dominion. The following is a complete list: Auckland Battalion, Hewton (Auckland), I Wuitara, Manaia, Cambridge, Feilding, Wanganui Garrison, Wanganui City, Gasborne, Opunake, Palinerston North, Tramway (Wellington), Petone Citizens', Kaikorai (Dunedin), Newtown. Nelson Garrison, Blenheim Garrison, Hastings. The entries for quartettes, trios, and. solos have been extended! to December 38th. . Of the above bands, nine are classified lis A grade, consequently an exoeption.ally keen and interesting competition may be safely anticipated. The presence of the Newtown band from Sydney, which has for many years past held the best contest record in Australia, is bound to enhance the attractiveness of the contest.
