A sale of work was held at Makara yesterday in aid of the funds of the Anglican Church and for the endowment of a bed at St. Mary's Home, Karori. Mr. J. P. Luke opened the bazaar. Thero wore many Karori folk present. The various stalls were under the management of the following :—Mesdames W. and T. Trotter, Jervis, Monk, -Robinson, Anderson, Bowler, Smith, Hawkins, and Hislop.

A sale of work was held at St. Mary's Home, Karori, to augment the funds for furnishing the addition lately built. Lady Plunket attended, and was accompanied by Mrs Wallis. Lady Pliraket was gowned in an exquisite white embroidered robe, with pale blue hat. Mrs Wallis wore a pretty pink crepe cloth frock and a black hat. Among others present were Mrs Duncan, Mrs Shirtcliffe, Mrs W. Hudson, Mrs Murphy, Mrs Burton, Mrs C. P. a.nd Miss Powles, and Mrs Hayes. The articles sold were the handiwork of the girls, and were much admired by the visitors.

At a meeting of the District Union 'Committee of the Young Women's Presbyterian Bible Class Union of Now Zealand, held on Tuesday, it was unanimously resolved, "That the most vigorous protest be sent to Sir Joneph Ward' against allowing the introductisra of the liquor canteen into the compulsory military camp, which would 'necessarily mean the thrusting of temiptation before many of our brothers and other young men of the Dominion." A copy of the minute was duly forwarded to the Premier by the president of the union. ,

The whole of bis ground floor being required for fitting, cutting and showrooms, new workrooms have been secured in tho building adjoining.
