BUSINESS MEETING. JItOM OCR OWN COItKESPONDENT. PAEMERSTON, December 7. The A. and P. Association held its monthly meeting to-day. Mr S. E. Lancaster presided. MEMBERS' VOTING POWERS. Mr Cohen's motion, seeking to give voting power to members at the annual meeting before they had paid subscriptions for the current year, met with hoc opposition. The mover pointed out that, tho annuUl meeting was held directly l after tho end of tho financial year, and i the current year practically meant the ensuing year. Tho mile was originally brought in to prevent tho packing of meetings, «jnd to indnco payment of subscriptions. The association was inclined to self-complacency, born of its own conservatism, and the sooner it got out of that groove tha better. Mr Ernest Short, in supporting the motion, said only 20 per cent, of the members voted at the annual meeting. There was need, for much improvement in the show. Some members considered "itri proximity to the show would affect the attendance at the show. The Finance Committee recommended_ that a charge of .£25,. or 5 per cent, of gate money, be made for the use of the grounds. It was eventually decided to charge 10 per cent, of the gate money. PROTEST. Mr Rupert Morrison, owner of Moonlight, entered a protest against his horse being disqualified, from the big steeplechase on tho third day, on account of not being able to carry tho weight. It was explained that Moonlight was placed first in jumping, but on being examined •as a hunter, the judge disqualified her because she could not carry the -weight. The judge had evidently been ill-advised in making the -weight-carrying test after instead of before the jumpingIt was decided to uphold tho judge's decision, and write an explanatory letter to Mr Morrison. CERTIFICATES WANTED. A request from ow:ners of horses which passed veterinary tests, for certificates, waß referred to Air Reakes. MEDAL FOR, A COW. Mr Lovelock, winner of the champion butter-fat competition, wrote suggesting that he should have a champion medal for his cow.—Suggestion to be adopted in future. FREE LUNCHEONS. Mr Georgo Wheeler reported that a number of applications had been made byattendants for breakfast 'and luncheon tickets at the show. lie considered the claims preposterous. Members complained of tho large numbers of free lunches, and it was decided to have a return at next meeting of the number issued, to whom, and by whom. FINANCES. The financial statement of the recent show revealed a. better position than i'ast year. Receipts, .1*2633, included gates and stands ,£IOB7, fees nr.d space .£7Bl, donations .£-180; expenditure, .£2*2Sl 16s sd, included prize money ,£1369, advertising and printing „£330, judges and luncheon ,£197, labour and sundry ,£375; credit balance, .£258 12s fid. The overdraft now stands at £5316. NEW MEMBERS. Ten new members were elected. SUSPENDED. It Was decided to suspend, a prominent breeder of pigs for misconduct" during the show.
