ONSLOW BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL. A mooting of the Onslow Borough Council, hold last night, was attended by the Mayor (Mr J. G. Harkness), and Councillors Lynneberg, Kiernan, Carver, Darvall, Bannister, Aplin, Stafford, and Plimmer. Accounts wore passed for payment an follow; —District fund account, £413 2s; Kaiwarra drainage account, £56 5s Bd. An application by the State Coal Department for permission to drive a heavy engine over the roads of thru borough was refused. A similar application from a private firm was also declined. It was decided that the ranger s services bo dispensed with, as from August 9th, and that applications bo invited for the vacancy, to reach the council before the next monthly meetPermissioh was granted to the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to use the Hutt'road through the borough tor its forthcoming “Marathon”, race from Kaitoke to Wellington.
