August will' be a very busy month tor lady golfers in Palmerston (says the “Manawatu Times”). The best lady players in the Dominion will be concentrated there for the New Zealand Ladies’ Championship, to last from Wednesday, August 18th-, to Tuesday, August 24th. It is to be under the management of the committee of the Manawatu Ladies’Golf Club, consisting of Mrs Warburton (captain), Mrs Innes, Mrs Porritt. Miss McLennan, Mrs Mellsop (hon. sec.). The Ladies’ Championship will bo in 18 holes, match play, heats, the club of the ultimate winner receiving Mrs Stead's Challenge Cup, while the two finalists will receive gold and silver medals • respectively. An 18 hole medal round, which will also include a teams’ match for club teams of four, is another fixture. There will also be an 18 hole handicap bogey match; ladies’ foursomes (stroke play); the late Mrs Gi P. Donnellys Cup for 18 holes stroke handicap; driving, approaching, and put-ting-matches (the putting matches daily for daily prizes); and the Coronation Medal to be played in conjunction with the. Donnelly .Cup. Following the New Zealand Championships will come the Manawatu ladies’ own tournament, August 25th-27th.
