KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Karori Borough Council met last i i a ht. Present-Councillors Hammond, Spiers. Raine, Bradnock, Smith and Weddo. In the abet nee of the Mayor Councillor Wedde presided. £I3OO LOAN. The Wellington Harbour Board wrote infoiming the Council that it was prepared to grant its application for a loan of £I3OO at 5 per cent., the Karori Council to establish a sinking fund of not less than 10 per cent, per annum.—Deferred to the finance committee. TRAMWAY MATTERS. Pursuant to notice, Councillor Smith moved That the Engineer ho instructed to furnish a report for the next meeting of the Council of the estimated cost of laying a tram from the mouth of the tunne( 'to the bus stables. This route to be via Ward's proposed road to its junction with Wallace sticct, thence along the full length of Wallace street, then by the best available rout© to cross Donald street, Campbell and Beauchamp streets to the Main road. The report to contain separate costs for the following items 1. Estimated cost of extra earthworks on public roads or roads likely to become private property." 2. Estimated cost of earthworks and road formation on private property along proposed route. 3. Estimated cost of laying rails, labour, and material. 4. Estimated, cost of acquiring private property under the Public VVorks Act, for proposed tram. 5. To show plan of subdivision of borough by proposed route. The motion was defeated on the casting vote of the chairman. GENERAL. Air H. Cook was appointed to represent the Council on the Wellington Benevolent Institution. Accounts amounting to £l7B 15s 9d "ere passed for payment.
