Dutt, a Bengali, was sentenced to death for billing Narendro Nath Gossain in Alipore gaol on August 31st. He is entitled to appeal. Arabindo Ghose, charged with being concerned in recent bomb outrages with others, including Gossain (who was shot by fellow-prisoners for turning informer), was found not guilty, but the case was refried to the High Court. OTTAWA, September 13.
One thousand and thirty-one immigrants were deported from Canada, and 486 refused admission, during a period of six months, in furtherance of the Government’s aim to secure tho best class of settlers.
SYDNEY, September 14. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Livingstone, treasurer for Mr J. O. Williamson, tho well-known theatrical manager. Livingston© has disappeared. Certain irregularities have been discovered in the accounts, involving a large amount. A number of wheelers at the Bollambi colliery were fined a shilling each for unlawfully taking part in a strike.
