The majority of settlers in the Nireahn district have completed sowing gra-ss-seed on their properties. 'The creamery at He.kanni is dealing with about five hundred gallons of milk daily. On account of tho recent bush fires it is estimated bv the manager (Billingtonj that as suppliers will bo able to run more cows on their property, the creamery will next siwon receive over four hundred gallons additional. The Nireaha dairy factory is at present receiving about six hundred and fifty gallons of milk daily. The next shipment of cheese will consist of seventy caec-s. The previous shipment totalled ninety cases. The E'etahuna County Council has leased county reserves as follows -.—Reserve 4S. block 5, Mangahao, E. Tomlinson: reserve 41, block 7, Tararua, J. Handymen: reserve 99a, block 11, Mangai one, J. Cavanagh; reserve 6, block 1, Tararua., J. Dcntsen ; reserve 130, block 1, Mangaone, W. Twentyman. Mr A. H. Herbert, Mayor of Eke-ta-hnna, has decided to accept nomination tor a further term of office. Settlers at Putara and Nireaha have petitioned the Ekotahuna County Council in reference to the inconvenience suffered by the settlers living in Mangatoinoka Valley and the public generally by the unmetalled portion of road known as the rarkville-Mangatainoka deviation. The petitioners state that the Public Works Department, has repeatedly promised that tho metalling of the road should be completed at an early date, but nothing has yet been done, and about sixtv chains of road is impassable in winter. The Council has decided to for-wai-d the petition to Mr A. W. Hogg, M.T\, asking him to bring the matter under the notice of the Minister. The friends of Mrs Adamson, of Pahiatna, will regret to hear that she is seriously ill. . ,

Mr W.' H. Godfrey, of Kongonzai. who has l>een on an extended trip to England, returned home on Saturday last. At next meeting of the Eketahuna County Council a motion by Councillor Dawson. "That the Council purchase a road roller at a cost not exceeding X 60," will come up for discussion. A wood-chopning match. .£lO a-side, took place at Alfred ton last Thursday between C. Cross and J. Cross, junr., and was won by the former by a few seconds.

The Central Mangaoiie road and the Tawataia Valley road have been declared countv roads in terms of the Public Works Act. At a meeting of the Eketahuna County Council on Saturday considerable discussion took place in connection with the condition of TawataiaMangaone Valley road, w£,jch is only partly metalled, and which during winter is susceptible to slips.
