CHINESE IN EARNEST.

PEKIN, April 12.
The' Japanese steamer America Mara, 6307 tons, sailed from China to San Erancisco without a package of Chinese cargo, and with only twentyfive passengers, as compared with 730 aboard the Canadian-Pacific Company’s Empress of India, which sailed on Thursday.
