SERIOUS CHARGES INDISCRIMINATE SHOOTING ALLpGED. SEVEN HUNDRED ARRESTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 10, 8.35 p.m.) LISBON, April 10.
The Portuguese Cabinet has ordered a searching inquiry into the circumstances ot the recent riots.
It is alleged that the Municipal Guard fired a volley into a crowd of unarmed people, and that the Guard wounded five soldiers belonging to a detachment which was marching past San Domingo Square where the chief riot occurred. It is also stated that the Municipal Guard at San Domingo Square fired ono hundred ard seventy shots, aiming generally on tho ground. Sovon hundred persons have bean arrested, including many of the .proletariat, who were in possession of a largo sum of money. TWO SOLDIERS SHOT DEAD. LISBON, April 9. Two soldiers were shot dead in a street in Lisbon.
The motive of the crime; which was committed at night, was rewengc, because the troops had fired on the crowd during the election riots. Tho assassin escaped.
