FRIEND, NOT FIEND.
(To the Editor “N.Z. Times/*) . Sir,—l am indeed sorry to observe that m setting -up my letter in your issue of this morning, your people have blundered and printed ‘-'fiend’' in place of “friend," as in the typed letter I sent you. To have used the word substituted would at any time have been an outrage, and I exceedingly regret that it should havo appeared as applied under my Signature.—! am, etc., . JNO. DtJTHIB. April 10th. fit was the linotype operator who was tho fiend. The sentence should have read:—‘'After his speeches and letters, with their intended application, this fickle 'friend' denies one-half and seeks fresh proof for the balance, and this with an air of the most innocent sang froid."— J3d.
