RAILWAYMEN’S APPEALS.
THE DECISIONS.
The Board of Appeal which considered the case of Thomas Timmmgs. lately porter in charge at Hukanm, .who appealed against his dismissal alter an accidental derailing of a tram, has recommended ’the ,Hon. W, Hall-Jones (Minister of Hallways) that as Tunming was employed by the department for some time after the accident, a lesser punishment should be substituted for that of dismissal. The Minister has approved this finding. . S. P. Evans, workshop manager at Hillside, brought an appeal before the South Island Appeal Board § on the ground that he had been improperly overlooked in regard to promotion. The Board has intimated to the Minister of Railways its opinion that the appeal should be dismissed, and in. this the Minister concurs.
