ART MASTER FOR WANGANUI.

ARRIVAL OF MR SEAWARD. Mr Denis Seaward, tho newly-appoint-ed instructor for the art classes at the 'Wanganui Technical School, arrived at Wellington by the Tcngariro yesterday, and will take up his duties at tho beginning of next month. Mr Seaward, besides being an Associate of the Royal College of Arts, holds the art class teacher’s and art master's certificate of South Kensington. Ho is thirty-one years of ago, and was married at london immediately before leaving for the Dominion. Mr Seaward received his early training in art in the Dover (Kent) Art School, whore he occupied the position of assistant master for five years, and was subsequently art master in the Deal and Walmer Technical Institute. In 1903 he obtained an appointment as art master in training at the Royal College of Art, was also drawing instructor to the Royal College of Science and the Royal School of Mines. He has had a good record in .examinations, having successfully passed through four schools at tho Royal College in architecture, design, modelling and painting and mural decoration. Mr Seaward was permitted to use the names of Professor Moira (painting and design). Professor Lanteri (modelling and sculptor), Mr Johnstone (lettering and rilummation), and Mr Jack (wood-' oarvmg and gesso), os references. AH these gentlemen are principals of various departments at the college. As part of hie training' h© had charge of large classes in the various departments of Primary drawing, anatomy, (drawing from Me and thoi antique. Principal Spencer, 8.C.A., speaking of Mr Seaward. said ho held a foremost place in his college, which had been won by ability and close application to. study. Profeasor Moira also spoke very highly of his ability in painting and decoration. Mr Seaward was Queen’s Prizeman for modelling from the antique, and has been awarded the full diploma of the college in painting. The High Commissioner (the Hon. W. P. Reeves) Dr Garnett and the Chief Inspector of the Board of Education of England (Mr b. J. CartHdgo, A.R.0.A.), were tne committee who made the appointment on behalf of the Wanganui Education 'Board.
