THE MAORI ASSOCIATION
OPENING ON MONDAY AT WANGANUI.
Tho stops which have boon under consideration for some time past for tn© formation of a Maori Association of Now Zealand have almost come to fruition, and tho association will be duly inaugurated at Wanganui on Monday. Tho initial steps in this movement were recently taken in Wellington, Mr C. R. Parata being the secretary. Since then committees have been worksteadily in different districts, and as°a result thero will be a good gathering of influential native© from different pa'rts of the Dominion. A strong committee will be appointed, and rules and regulations will be drawn up. It is expected that the new body will have a marked influence upon social and political questions affecting the welfare of the Maori race. Mr O. R. Parata leaves for Wanganui this morning. x
