The Board decided to lend assistance in the matter. CHARGE OF ARSON. CHRISTCHURCH, September 37. A man named Robert O’Caliaghan, a timber, and coal merchant, was arrested to-night on a charge of arson. Accused rented a am all cottage ■ in. Unwood, which he furnished, and ho ifl alleged to have attempted to set fire to the building yesterday afternoon by placing a lighted candle Surrounded by paper and dry chins in a cupboard. Th© candle was discovered and extinguished before it hod burned down to the heap of inflammable material. O’Ollaghan’a furniture is insured for ,£IOO.
