THE AUSTRALIAM TARIFF.
MORE PROTESTS,
By Telegraph—Preas Association—Copyright (Received September 27, 10-55 p.m.) LONDON, September 27.
A large meeting of the Australasian section of the London Chamber of Commerce, and others interested, adopted resolutions protesting against the imposition of further duties on British goods, which, despite the financial support accorded to Australian industries by merchants and investors, will seriously harm manufacturing industries in the United Kingdom.
The meeting also declared that the preference given to British goods, although small, was thankfully received in the hop© that it would shortly bo increased. Another resolution declared that the sudden levying of new duties—especially on goods bought before the new tariff became operative—would cause considerable inconvenience and loss in Australia and Britain unless the time of levying was postponed.
