PETONB RIFLE CLUB.

The Petohe Rifle Club opened the season- at Waiwetu on Thursday >rith a senes of one-range sweepstake matches. There was a, fair attendance, and come very high-class shooting was mado con-sidering-the'members were out of practice. : A, Ballinger .was in splendid form, making 139 points out of a possible 150. Out of a possible 50 at each range, ho scored 4.7 at 3DO: yards, 47,at 500 vards, and 45 at 600 yards. Other good Scores were:—2oo yards, W. Edlin (4S>, J. M. Clark (47), J. Carter (45); sdo yards. W. H. Thomas (46.).' The following were the, highest scores:
