SLY-GEOG SELLING.

FIFTY POUND FINE. PIU3SS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, November 8. At Balclutha yesterday, William Marshall was fined .£SO by Mr Cruickslianks, S.M., for keeping liquor for a sale in a no-license district. ■; When the caeo was heard, Marshall was sentenced itxr throe months’ imprisonment, but on appeal, Mr Justice Chapman held that tho case was one for a fine, the previous conviction being more than five years old. Two other charges against Marshall and two against Michael Liston, livery stablekeeper, were then heard, accused giving evidence that the liquor had been purchased for their own consumption. Mi* Cruickshank, S.M., said ho did not propose to impose further fines. Liston waji convicted on tho first charge and discharged on payment of costs.
