John Churton. an Auckland bookmaker was fined a total of £7O and costs for keeping an office contrary to the Gaming nc l Lotteries Act. and making a bet depending upon tho result of the working of tho totalisator. .Accused pleaded guilty. The Magistrate, in giving his decision, said bookmakers embarked on a business prohibited bv law, and must*take tho risk. CHRISTCHURCH, November 3. lesterday afternoon W. E, Pobar, a bookmaker, was fined «£lo for trespassing on the Riccartou racecourse on August 17th and 19th.
