PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, November 3. The second of a series of prosecutions for trespassing in kauri forests and "bleeding” trees for gum, took place at Rawnne, Hokianga, before Mr R. S. Florence, S.M. George Oswald Dysart was charged on seven informations laid by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland, with trespassing in the Warawata estate forest on dates between April 19th and 25th, 1905. Mr S. Mays prosecuted for the Crown, lie pointed out the great extent of the "bleeding” operations carried on by Dysart. It appeared from tbo report of the Crown Forest Ranger that 11,000 trees had been "bled” by those engaged in this so-cialled “industry”—most of them by defendant. The effect of excessive bleeding was to cause tho trees to wither and die. Tho Magistrate found accused guilty. On tho first offence he fined him .£SO, on the second .£3O, and on tho remainder £lO each—£l3o in all with costs amounting to £l6 7s 6d.
