King Billy and Boomerang galloped six furlongs on tho sand track in Imin 20Jsec, King Billy finbliins in front. THE AUCKLAND COURSE. AUCKLAND, November 1. Owing to heavy rain having again set in it is probable the Auckland Racing Club will postpone the opening day of the spring meeting, fixed for Saturday, till the next-week. That portion of tho course recently regraded has been made extremely heavy by tho great amount of rain that fell during the past three weeks. It is felt that it would be unsafe to race on Saturday. NOCTUIFORM SOLD. CHRISTCHURCH, November 1. Mr G. G. Stead has sold the three-year-old colt Noctuiforni, by Multiform 1—La Notto, to' an English buyer. Delivery is not to he given till after tho Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting, so that Noctuiforni will run in Mr Stead’s interest at tho Riccarton meeting. TRAINING AT RICCARTON. CHRISTCHURCH, November 1.

The weather was fine, and the tracks in excellent order this morning. Tomorrow did a good working gallop over seven furlongs. Calibre beat Golden Knight over a mile and a quarter, run in 2min 17sec. Cannie Chiel went the same distance alone, covering the last mile in Imin 47sec. Achilles and Ohoorka ran a solid mile and a quarter in 2mir 12seo. Achilles apparently had the best of it at the finish, though neither was ridden out. Both horses performed very pleasingly. Mystification and Mahutonga traversed a circuit at three-quarter speed, both being anxious to improve the pace. Chivalry was extended over half a mile in 49 l-seec. Handsome Rose outjumped Comfort in a schooling task over four flights. Stepdancer did two miles at i three-quarter speed. Ailsa sprinted pleasingly over five furlongs. After breakfast a number of two-year-olds were worked. Lapland beat Muhgista by two lengths over half a mile. Ivanoff beat Lady Landon, Afer, Stars and Stripes, Souna, and Field Gun over four furlongs, run in 51sec. Huascar was fairly well extended over half a mile, run in 50 4-ssec. Vladimir, looking well, brushed over the last three furlongs of a steady circuit, moving in his usual resolute fashion. Machine Gun was given easy work.
