PBTSS3 ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, October 31. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Barney Ryan was fined .£lO for batting in a public place. Evidence was given that accused was calling odds on the Warr-nambool-Molbonrne road race in High street, but although he took money ho refused to pay bets ~ . , , , Mr G. Day. S.M.. at the Magistrate s Court this morning, board a number of informations laid against bookmakers by the Canterbury Jockey Club and Trustees of the Christchurch racecourse for trespassing on August 15th, 17th, and 19th. The following fines wore inflicted; —Eric Bradshaw. £3O (three charges); B. Williams, £SO (two charges); G. Pearce, £ls (two charges): J. McMahon, £5: J. Cuthbortson, £ls (two charges); W. Pollock, £5; S. H. Brierley, £ls (two charges); H. Rowe, £5; P. Clarke. £10; A Grover. £5 (three charges); W. Stalicn, £5; S. Barton, £5; J. Lauchlan, £2O (two charges): and W. Langley, £5. Charges against J. Fairbairn. T. Johnson, M. Barnett, and P. Grant were dismissed. Further cases of trespassing will be heard to-morrow morning.
