SUNDAY-SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
The sixty-first anniversary of the Terrace Congregational Sunday-school was celebrated by a tea-meeting’ and a public meeting last evening. The Rev J. Reed Glasson presided at the public meeting, and addresses were also given hv the Revs Macdonald Aspland, IV. A. Evans, and Edward Taylor (Port Chalmers). The music was supplied by the scholars, assisted by the church choir and an orchestra. The decorations, which were more elaborate than on former occasions, were provided under the direction of Mr V. Mackie. Mr F. Meadowcroft, superintendent, read the report of the past year's work. This showed Hint at the beginning of the year the attendance was 126 scholars and 16 teachers, and that at the close it was 132 scholars and 17 teachers. For missions ,£35 Us 4d was collected, and the superintendent quoted figure© to show' the steady increase of (his fund from <£ls ■n 1902. "At the beginning of the year there was a deficit of U2 7s in the general fund, but there is now a credit balance of 5s 4d. There are now 331 hooks in the library, and the funds show a debit balance of 15© lOd. Eight scholars entered for the Sunday-school Union examination, and scven’wore successful. The oliieers for the year are as follows: —Superintendent and treasurer, Mr F. Meadowcroft; secretary .Mr IV. J. J.aukshear; assistant secretary. Mr D. M-acklin; librarian, Mr \V. G Robinson; delegate to Sunday-school Union, Mr Rogers. After the prizes ■won during the previous year had been presented. Mr Glasson on behalf of the officers of the club, presented an ’Ruminated address to -Mr Meadowcroft, who has been superintendent of tho school for twelve years, and who is to leave shortly for England.
