THE HUTT COUNTY.
Messrs Eli Allen and F. T. Moore, candidates for tho Porirua riding, addressed the ratepayers of Ohariu on Thursday. Mr Stephen Bryant was voted to the chair. Tho candidates reiterated the statements they made at Porirua regarding wasteful expenditure on county roads to tho detriment of district roads. The financial position of the county offices on Lambtbn quay was also condemned, and the cost of owning and working the stono crusher and traction engine was declared to be ruinous. Extravagant administration was blamed for the largo overdraft at the bank, which should bo stopped, otherwise rates would have to be increased. The candidates pledged themselves, if elected, to alter the system of maintaining roads and to give attention to district as ivell as county roads. At the conclusion of tho addresses a unanimous votes of thanks was accorded for the manner in which the affairs of the county had been explained. Messrs Eli Allen and F. T. Moore, candidates for election to the Hutt County Council, will address the ratepayers at Johnsonvillo next Thursday

Mr Stephen ifryant is a candidate for the repriveutation of the Ohariu riding on the Council.
