SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23. Tho House mot at 11 a.m. RAILWAYS BILL. The House went into committee to consider tho Governor’s amendments in tho Government Railways Act, 1900, .Amendment Bill. The bill was road a second time and iota mi tted. Tbo Minister for Railways explained ihat tho amendment was to authorise tho department to include in tho purchase money of land acquired for railway 'purposes interest from tho time Buch hind was actually taken over. Tho bill was read a third time and passed. Tho Speaker; I think that's a record for tho House. PUBLIC WORKS. Tho Public Works Act Compilation Bill (Hon W. Hall-Joncs) was partly Bcmsidored, and progress reported. Tho House adjourned at 1 p.m.
