Meetings in Mr Hindoo's interests were KoM yesterday at Brooklyn, and Island Bay. “At Brooklyn, the ladies formed themselves into a committee, and at Island Bay committees of both eeses were inaugurated. Mr Wilford was unable to visit Epuni Hamlet last evening as promised, on account of tho Epuni Leases Surrender BUI being before the House. However, his organising secretary, Mr Cracroft Wilson, wont out and made a speech on Mr Wilford'B behalf. The meeting passed a vote of confidence in Hr Wilford, and a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Wilson for his address. Mr W. McLean addressed a large audience at th© Victoria Hall, Newtown, last evening. At th© conclusion of his speech those present formed themselves into a committee to work in his interests. 'ln the Victoria Hall on Saturday night, the four candidates for the Newtown electorate, Messrs Barber, Hindmarsh, and Hislop, and Dr Chappie, will express their views on the no-licenso question. * Mr Barber invites his Brooklyn committee to meet him at the State School on Monday, at 8 p.m. Mr W. H. Field, M.H.R., who announces his candidature for re-election for the Otaki seat, will address electors at the hall, Makara, at 7.30 p.m, to-mor-row. PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN. October 26. Mr A. Marshall, Government candidate for the Taieri scat, addres£pd a meeting at Mosgiel this evening. The Volunteer Hall could scarcely accommodate the audience. Ho declared himself an out and out Government supporter. Ha received an attentive hearing, and at the close, a vote of thanks. A motion of continued confidence in the present Government was carried.
