EXPLODING CRACKERS IN THE STREET.

(To the Editor "N.Z. Times.”) Sir,—lt is a matter of urgent necessity that the police should at once stamp out the evil practice of persons, chiefly boys "letting off" crackers in the streets. Only this afternoon a dastardly act was perpetrated by some boys in Hill street, who wilfully threw a bundle of lighted crackers into a perambulator, which set the rugs, etc., on fire. Fortunately .the child had been removed but a few minutes previously; otherwise the injuries from the exploding crackers may have been of life-long duration. I may sav for the benefit oi the boys concerned, I have placed tho matter in tho hands of the police.—lam, etc., PATERFAMILIAS. October 23rd.
