FIRING A PISTOL.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, October 24. Albert Gabriel, restaurant - keeper, pleaded not guilty in the Police Court to a charge of firing a pistol without reasonable cause in Albert street. Evidence given by Constable Mulloly showed that Gabriel admitted to him that he had fired the pistol. !|Tho defendant’s explanation at the timeVas that four or five men "rushed” him, and he fired to frighten them as he was afraid they were going to rob him of .£l3O worth of money and jewellery which ne was carrying. Gabriel gave evidence repeating the statement made to the constable. "You did a very reasonable and proper thing," declared his Worship. The information was dismissed.
