AN INSURANCE MATTER.
PROTECTION OF POLICYHOLDERS. (Received August 15, 9.47 p.ra.) MELBOURNE, August 15. Replying to a question in the House of Representatives to-day, Air Deakin, tho Federal Premier, said inquiries were to bo made, with a view to protecting the interests of persons assured in connection with one of the largo American companies which it had been stated contemplated withdrawing from Australia. Tho Commonwealth Govern, mont, added tho Premier, had no power to deal with, insurance till legislation was passed on the matter.
