SCENE AT A CHRISTENING. (Received August 16, 0.50 a.m.) LONDON, Angus: 35. The ".Morning .Loader" .states that the Registrar of Births at Bridgewater was .summoned 'to the "Abcdo of Love." at Spaxton, Somerset, to register Smyth Piggott's baby. Ho saw in the chapel forty worshippers, Reid (Piggolt’s secretary). Piggott, and the Registrar were the only men present.
A beautiful young woman lay on a couoh. whereon was a babe dressed in white. Piggott admitted that lie was father of the child. Tiie mother, Ruth Greece, described herself as a "lady”; in her next reply she described heiuelf as a '■nurse.”
The child was christened "Glory,'’ and a splendid choral service was sung, tho mother and child receiving homage, Glory being considered to bo a new Messiah.
Piggdtt’s legal wife was present, or in the vicinity of the chapel. Ruth Greece hod been deluded into believing herself Piggott’s divinely-appointed spiritual bride, and as such is received by the Agapemonites.
The "Abode of Love” has on many occasions attracted the attention of English newspapers. The practices of Hie man Piggott, a clergyman, who conducts Hie establishment, and tho superstitions of the inmates have from time to time been exposed.
