The total quantity of -wheat and flour afloat for the Dnitod Kingdom is 3.010,000 quarters, and for the Continent 2,155,000. Atlantic shipments, 67,000 quarters. SOUTHERN STOCK SALES. CHRISTCHURCH, May. 31. At Addington yards, there, was a fairly largo entry of almost all classes of stock, and there was a good attendance. Beef showed a sharp decline in values. Eat lambs were somewhat irregular, but fat sheep were, if. anything, firmer. . Store sheep met with good demand. Pigs of all classes were very dull of sole. , There was a good inquiry for the, best sorts of dairy cows.: i Store sheep.—The yarding was _ not large, and was composed almost entirely of wethers and hoggets. There, was a good demand, especially for, hoggets, and prices ivoro still firmer. Two and four tooth owes brought from'ljs 9d to 18s 6d, six and eight tooth owes in lamb 22s 3d, aged 14s, hoggets 13s 9d to 15s Bd. Fat lambs.—There was a fairly largo yarding, a ' good proportion being of prime quality. The competition of. export buyers was not so keen as of late, .and the sale ivas somewhat irregular, though values showed little or no change. Tegs made 10s to 21s 6d. lamb weights ICs to 18s 6d, unfinished sorts 13s lOd to 15s 6d,

Pat sheep.—The yarding was good both as to number and quality, and all 'prime lots were .Well competed for. An export buyer wasuperating in ewes, and vgenerally there was a firmer tone throughout the sale. Range of prices was:—Prime wethers 22s 6d to 255, others 19s 9d to 225; ewes, extra heavy Downs to 24s 7d, prime heavy 19s to 235, medium to good 16s to 18s 6d, freezing ewes 16s Gd to 18s. aged 12s 9d to 15s 6it, merino ewes 9s 9d to 13s 9d.

Fat cattle.—There was an over supply, 259 head being penned. A very dull sale resulted, prices showing a decided decline. The reduction in the retail price of beef may also have affected the market, The bulk of the yarding consisted of good to prime steers, and only the host quality was really saleable. _ Cows and rough sorts of steers were difficult to dispose of nt any figure. Prime beef made 19s to 20s, a few choice steers to 21s. medium 17s to 18s, and cow and inferior 14s to 16s per 1001 b. A line of twelve heifers (W. O. Rutherford, of Montrose) made i£7 2s Gd to JCB 7s. Steers sold at .£6 5s to Jl9 7s 6d, heifers £i 17s Gd to £7. cows £i 5s to £7 2s 6d, veal calves 8s 6d •to .£3. A line of vealtrs tIC. Richards (Waihao Downs) averaged £2 7s 3d. Store and dairy cattle,—There were a few good lines amongst those offered, but there appeared to bo no buyers, and most of the lots were passed in.' Really good dairy cows were wanted, but other sorts were not so brisk of sale. Yearlings made 15s to 20s, fifteen to, eighteen months 42s to 48s,, two-year-old. steers J 23 9s, three-year-old steers £i is to .£4 17s 6d. three-year-old heifers £i 3s 6d, dry cows 30s to £i, best dairy cows .£8 to J! 10 10s; others £i to £7 10s.
