THE GAME OF THE SEASON. ; The general topic of conversation in athletic circles at present is the great game to bo played on Saturday between tho representative fifteens of the North and South Islands. Some of the Northern men have already arrived in town and by to-morrow morning all the players will have reached Wellington. The men who are in town look fit and well, and tho public may be assured of a extraordinary display of scientific football from men who, in many instances, will win a tour across the world on the game they play on Saturday afternoon. The New Zealand selectors will witness the game, and tho team_ for Great Britain will bo finally decided upon on Saturday night. NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR N.S.W. TEAM. Mr A. E. Gibbs presided at last evening’s meeting of the New Zealand Football Association. The secretary (Mr F. J. Courtney) mentioned that the men chosen for the tour of New South Wales were able to make the trip with the exception of Smallbone (goal-keeper) and Yates (half-back). The resrves, M. Fitzgerald and E-. D. Jones, would, therefore bo included in the team. Mr A. Williams and tho secretary were instructed to confer with the Rugby Union with regard to a proposal tfiat tho Petone-Oriental Rugby fixture should bo played on the Athletic Park on June 10th, the date of the Wellingtou-New Zealand fixture. Mr 11. G. Mayer was appointed manager of the team, Mr W. J. Taylor was elected captain af the team, and Mr M. Chadwick, vice-captain. The question of selection committee was held over.
