LAND BOARD.

The Land Board concluded its business yesterday. There were present— Tho Commissioner of Crown Hands (Mr J. Strauohon) and Messrs A. Eec.se, J. 'Dawson, J. Stevens, and T., H. Eobinson. It was decided to recommend removal of tho reservation on about 604 ■acres of the Forest Eeserve in block 2, Gorge district, adjoining tho Malton block, with a view to allotting the land amongst tho adjoining owners. Hie Commissioner submitted a summary of fifty-three rangers’ reports, which showed that thirty-nine selectors had complied with the conditions and fourteen were defaulters. On tho motion of Mr Stevens, seconded by Mr Dawson, it was resolved that in future the two principal rangers shall lie present at all meetings of the Hoard, for tho purpose of giving information, so as to obviate the indefinite postponement of matters requiring their report and consequent inconvenience to tile public. Tho Government is to be asked to remove the reservation from the Totara Eeserve. block 1, Mangaono, to enable the land to bo cut up for selection. Tho Board rose at 1 p.m.
