Lusk then partnered Macassey, Both batsmen played with confidence, but took no liberties. They carried tbo total to 82. when Lusk was) beaten by a good one from Uphnm. .Cato filled the vacancy, and, with Macassey, increased tho score to 156, when Bryce got Cato’s wicket with j*,gtfong off-break. Fenton and-Bishop .‘succeeded, tho latter helping Mncnstey to carry the score to 101, when tho last-named batsman was caught by Mouatt off Hickey’s bowling for a woll-playod 75. Bishop and Williams kept tho field lively for a time, the score mounting steadily. Fulton and Hallamoro were also responsible for a welcome-addition to tbo total, Hallamoro playing a dashing innings of 32 not out. Tho innings closed for 288 runs.
